The Neuroscience Graduate Program is pleased to welcome Stephani Sutherland, PhD, a neuroscientist and science communication professional, for a guest seminar focused on careers in science communication.
Dr. Sutherland will begin with an overview of career paths in science communication, drawing on her own wide-ranging professional journey. Trained as a neuroscientist, she has built a multifaceted career as a science communicator, writer, journalist, and educator, translating complex research for audiences that include scientists, clinicians, policymakers, and the general public.
In the second half of the talk, Dr. Sutherland will lead a brief, skills-focused “boot camp” offering practical strategies for effectively conveying scientific ideas to general audiences.
This event is especially relevant for graduate students interested in public-facing science, outreach, education, or alternative careers that leverage scientific training beyond the bench.
