
We welcome everyone to the first annual “MATFab Materials Frontier Symposium” that will be held on April 18, 2025 in the Iowa Advanced Technology Laboratories Building on the University of Iowa campus. The purpose of the symposium is to highlight advances and applications in materials science across all scientific disciplines.

Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM) Workshop
1–2:30 p.m. IATL 104
Join Drs. Michael Sinnwell and Jackie Feng as they explain the fundamentals of FE-SEM and demonstrate the capabilities of the new JEOL system on geologic and engineered materials. Capabilities for characterization of fabricated devices will also be highlighted. Workshop will be capped due to space limitations. Registration required.
MATFab Graduate and Undergraduate Student Poster Session

Come share your research at the student poster session! Food and awards for the best graduate and undergraduate student posters.
Plenary Talks, 3:30-5 p.m. IATL 04 Learn more about cutting-edge material science and engineering that is taking place at the University of Iowa. We will feature two plenary speakers Professors Fatima Toor (Lowell G. Battershell Chair in Laser Engineering, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering) and Korey Carter (Department of Chemistry) that focus on materials fabrication and characterization in their research.
